Guitar from hell

While discussing the "howling tube" with heated screen, I realized that
there is another variant. Might this be something new, or is it well
known? Does it even work?

Stretch a wire horizontally and heat it red hot. Pluck it or strike it so
it vibrates up and down (in line with the convection flow.) As the wire
moves in and out of the heated boundary layer, it contacts cool air and
instantly expands it, which generates pressure waves having much greater
amplitude than those from an unheated vibrating wire.

The convection might not be enough. Perhaps a gentle wind it needed, to
make the heated boundary layer asymmetric.

Play a guitar with electrically heated red-hot strings (asbestos gloves?),
and you won't need to plug it into an amp?
