Re: Graphing by Hand

Dr. Donald E. Simanek wrote in part:

2. What is a snail's pace? Find the speed of a fast land snail eagerly
heading toward a juicy leaf. Express that in miles/hour, cm/sec,
and furlongs per fortnight.

I use the furlongs/fortnight as well. As a sequel, I use a problem I found in
a text some time back:

The escargot travels on a layer of mucus. If the escargot requires about 2
drops per meter travelled, calculate the mucus efficiency in miles per gallon.

2 drops per m seem a bit small for some of the slugs that travel my back yard,
but the result is something like my 78 suburban--12 miles per gallon!

Ciao,
