Illich was here last year for a visit and I was dismayed to find him
disavowing much of what he wrote in Deschooling and its companion, Toward
a History of Needs. Forced me to own what in that I think is true rather
sit at the foot of the guru. Good learning experience.

Paradoxically, he was one of the influences that made me think maybe I
should become a teacher.
