Same here.  However, my previous "double mail" occurred because eskimo.com
somehow subscribed an eskimo.com listserv maintainence address to phys-L. 
It is impossible for an eskimo.com user to do this, so somehow some
bounced garbage must have been interpreted as "subscribe phys-L".
