Don't give up hope.
Mr Bill has already provided that you can attach "Word" documents
to email with live executable code if you should click on a
(possibly disguised} popup box in Word.

This can also be done in Eudora Lite 3.1.1 on the Macintosh. It does
give a warning (called an "Alert" in Macjargon):

"The document <filename1> says it is a copy of <filename2>.
If you are sure it is a lgitimate copy of <filename2> I will
finish unpacking it and launch it."

You are given the options of unpacking it, unpacking and launching
it, or doing nothing. To illustrate this point I have attached a
very short executable program called "Cheshire" to this note. If
youi have a Macintosh you will be able to execute it (it is cute).
I don't know what it will do to the machines of the rest of you
TRS-80 compatible types, probably leave stains and deposits!

I think it is important to realize that one should not always say
"OK" to these alerts. You should think first. Macintosh users have
more opportunity to do so since we don't waste time reading manuals.

Anyone want a cookie?

This attachment was sent as file CHESHIRE
It was saved in file ATTCHMNT _CHESHIR A

Note: One or more attachments were saved to your personal
storage ("A" disk). Most programs and documents sent
from a PC will need to be downloaded to a PC to be
usable; select the BINARY option of your file
transfer program.

If you know the attachment was plain text, but it is
now unreadable, it may need translation from ASCII
to EBCDIC. If it was saved as "README TXT A", the
command would be "A2ETEXT README TXT A".
