Your little pocket laser shows a longer wavvelength than a HE-NE one
because it uses a diode rather than a HE-NE tube to create the light.
The longer wavelength is one of the reasons that the HE-NE people say
that their lasers are brighter for the same power output (The eye is
slightly more sensitive to the shorter wavelength.)
