Re: the Einstein unit



I believe the Einstein is Avogadro's number of photons. I encountered it
in a discussion of photosynthesis in a college sophomore biology course.

Pretty much. I found the reference to the Einstein in "Albert Einstein: a
Biography" by Albrecht Folsing (tr. by Ewald Osers), Viking Penguin 1997.

One Einstein is the _energy content_ of one mole of photons; it is, of course
frequency dependent, because E = hf for photons.
