PASCO has a new rotational motion sensor which does allow the computer
interface software to assign a sign to the direction of rotation. It uses
multiple light sensors (2 maybe). The order in which the sensors are
blocked determine the direction of rotation.
If you are having a problem with the sensor data, you k\might contact
Robert Morrison in technical support at PASCO (morrison@pasco.com). I
actually suprised that he did not reply already, as he is a member of the
list.
