Akin to Leigh's observation is that they also don't know how to use the
parentheses keys. Actually if they knew how to use one (memory or
parentheses) they could avoid the other and still use the calculators
effectively.

No one has mentioned the most pervasive calculator error students make.
In their rush to punch numbers into their calculations they often forget
to use ther calculators' memories.
