Yes TRUE BASIC is "quick" (it compiles, uses libraries, etc) but it is not
"dirty". It is also very powerfu (matrix operations, graphics, etc). And a
student version (max 200 lines of code) with the manual costs only $25. The
language is "modern"; there is no need for line numbers) and easy to learn.
A student version runs on Power Mac but not in its native mode. They do have
a native Power Mac version but not for $25. They also have DOS and WINDOWS
