Re: magnetic pans

Cindy: If you have one of the Cenco Elihu Thompson jumping ring apparatus
demonstations, you have the makings of magnetic induction heating.

Being sadistic, we sometimes have a smart-elic student hold down the ring
to "test his/her strength." The ring gets so hot after 5 seconds that it
must be let go or the person burns his finger tips.

An old friend (Red)from Pan Am University used to do a demo where he fried
eggs in a (cast iron?-probably thick aluminum) skillet above the apparatus,
but placed an ice cream sandwich in the space between. Pretty impresive to
watch a "heatless" transfer of energy.

So why haven't I stole this demo idea from him???

Have fun, Karl
