I would not charagterize a capacitor as a battery. A large capacitor
does replace a rechargable (or otherwise) battery in some uses but
a chemical reaction is not involved, only physics. It can be called
an energy storage device however.

I agree. A capacitor is no where near a constant potential diff. device.
Batteries are much closer to this. Ideally batteries are constant
potential diff. devices.
