Greetings everyone! I've been reading this thread and it reminded me
of something that was mentioned by our school's guidance counselor at a
teacher's meeting. Apparently, with the upcoming classes, the students are
given a portfolio of some sort that lists the objectives that they plan on
meeting by the time they graduate. Also, in this portfolio is a contract that
all of us teachers are to sign guaranteeing that the student will "succeed" in
our class. From what I gather what was stated and talking with the counselor,
if the student doesn't succeed, then it looks bad upon the teacher and the
responsibility of the students lack of success falls upon the teacher.
I'm not sure of the exact detail, but I don't like the sounds of this.
What ever happened to "responsibility"? Silly me, I thought the students were
supposed to meet the teachers' objectives and not the other way around.
