Re: Internal Energy

Speaking of text book recomendations;

Some of my undergrad reference texts are now hopelessly out of date (ok,
ok, I AM getting old). Can anyone recomend a good senior undergrad/first
year grad text book in modern physics/Quantum and in solid state/condensed
matter? How about particle/high energy physics? (I figure E&M, mechanics
and thermo haven't changed all that much.)

thanks
kyle

OK, I guess the list doesn't know who first wrote the First Law -- certainly
*I* don't have a clue, then how about "Internal Energy"?

Who first talked about internal energy -- by that name???

Can someone suggest a good comprehensive history-of-thermo book/article???

OK, can someone suggest a crumby (or is it crummy) history-of-thermo book????
