Re: Lighter moments (Was: Caving in.)

Some more lighter stuff for end of semester.

A University professor had, during his whole career, made a
deliberate effort to learn and remember the name of every student
he'd ever had in class. One evening at a social gathering of alumni
he spotted a man he knew he'd had as a student years before, but
he could not recall the name. Since this was the first time he'd
ever forgotten a student's name, it bothered him the whole evening,
until finally it suddenly came to him in a flash. He rushed over
to the fellow, grabbed him by the lapels and said, "You are Freddie
Kravitz. You took the General Physics course here back in the Fall
of 1978. Isn't that so?"

The astonished Kravitz replied, "Yes, that's true. But who are
*you*?"

<=====>

An ornithology professor devised a novel final examination. When
the students arrived for the exam they saw on the lecture desk
several dozen numbered boxes, each containing a bird. The boxes
had holes in the bottom for the bird's feet to stick out. The
students were to identify each bird by examining its feet.

Most of the students took the exam very seriously, carefully
examining the feet protruding from each box. Some shook the boxes
when no one was looking, hoping to get some response from the bird
to help in the identification. But one student became more and more
frustrated and angry. When the time was up, this student confronted
the professor and expressed his opinion that the exam was one of
the dumbest ideas he'd ever heard of, that it was unreasonable to
test students in this way, that the entire course was worthless and
that the professor was incompetent to teach the subject.

The professor was taken aback by such audacity on the part of a
student, but he kept calm. "I'm sorry you feel so strongly negative
about this. But I will take your opinions under advisement." He
got out a pencil and asked, "What is your name?"

The student held out a leg to the professor and said, "Read my
feet."

This is actually a cleaned-up version of the story. In the
original, only the birds' tails protruded from the boxes.
