My main concern is that I see far too many bright, highly motivated
students not succeeding in Physics. We could conclude that Physics is so
difficult that only the best of the best - Me! - can succeed. If I don't
accept that conclusion, then the traditional way of teaching Physics must
not be good enough.
We, at the College level, can always blame it on elementary and secondary
schools for not doing their job properly, but that doesn't help. We
cannot, yet, say with certainity whether or not the current teaching
innovations produce better physicists or even help more people succeed in
Physics, but they may have part of the answer, and some changes are needed.
