 That's a solved problem. Vernier has adapters to use standard
phone-plug style photogates (either one or two) with the TI CBL.
They also have some fine softeware to run on the TI-82/83/85/92
which is given away on the web. I can't emphasize enough the
importance of good data collection software for CBL. Without it
experiments can be a pain.
