grad student Nobels

The recent Nobel prize for superfluid He-3 includes Osheroff, who
apparently was a grad student on the project. This seems pretty rare - I
notice that the grad students on the C-60 prize only get a mention, for
instance. Does anyone know more about this? Are there other examples of
Nobel prizes for graduate student work? Why was Osheroff chosen
(obviously, he was not just 'in the right place at the right time'!)?

Maybe The Nobel committee is still doing penance, under some sort of grad
student affirmative action guideline, or is following some other reform
resulting from some past abuses. The case of the prize for the discovery of
pulsars comes to my mind here. Hewish got the prize, but his grad student,
Jocelyn Bell discovered the signal in the data.
