Torque is a physical quantity. I insisted that torque has the same
*dimensions* as energy, not the same units. Both *can be* expressed
in the same units, in newton meters in SI. In the case you refer to
the magnitude of the torque you measured was 5 newton meters; that
is the measured value of the physical quantity. It would under no
conceivable circumstances be proper to call that 5 joules.
