Physics Video Analysis Software and Public Domain AVI Files
If you're thinking of using video analysis software in physics education,
then you might want to consider World-in-Motion. Version 2.0 is out and you
can see some of its features at:
Using this software, you can analyze digitized video files saved in the avi
format. While it comes on a CD with over 200 ready-to-use video clips, the
software also allows you to use your own existing video experiments, or
capture new ones in a lab environment if you have a Video for Windows
compatible capture card.
The World-in-Motion web site has examples showing how the software is used to
analyze freely falling objects, projectiles, collisions, uniform circular
motion, rotational motion and springs.
You can also access my public domain avi movie data base from the above web
site, or at:
There are many public domain avi files there. Topics include constant
velocity, free fall, projectile motion, two dimensional collision, air
resistance, gears, pulleys, springs and rotational motion.
If you are already using World-in-Motion and have any questions, comments or
complaints, then please contact me.
