Re: ohms law

If you want to see an explanation of a simple electric circuit that will
turn you stomach look at the demonstration Java applet at

Also shown on page 27 of the book "Just Java" by Linden.

Alex, I realize that you probably were not thinking of this particular
aspect when you sent the above note. My reply is not really addressed to
you but to the members of Phys-L.

I would submit that one important reason why we see these examples is
because while nearly 9 times more student instruction hours of physics goes
on with non-physics majors (K - 14) than with physics and engineering
majors (13 - >20) and this physics teaching involves almost 700 times more
teachers without formal physics beyond the introductory level in college
(600 times more with conceptual physics at best) than those with Ph.D's in
Physics and over 100 times more students who are not going to be physics or
engineering majors, yet most physics departments refuse to even make a
place for anyone who might want to consider paying attention to the issues
involved and the negative impact of physics teaching, as it is, on all of
these _other_ students and on our society as a result.

But, then it's only my opinion. I might be wrong... ;^)
