**ANNOUNCEMENT OF AVAILABLE POSITION**

The Physics Department of the Colorado School of Mines invites
applications for the position of Lecturer/Instructor of Physics,
beginning July 15, 1996. This is a non-tenure-track position
involving teaching in the calculus-based freshman and sophomore
physics courses which are taken by all students at CSM. Primary
responsibilities will also include management of the introductory
physics laboratories, supervision of graduate teaching assistants,
and the lecture demonstrations. The sucessful candadate must have
an M.S. or Ph.D. in physics and a demonstrated aptitude for, and a
strong interest in, teaching. Required skills include the ability
to give clear, coherent lectures, a flair for design, fabrication
skills, and creativity in developing demonstrations to enhance
student learning, and familiarity with common physics laboratory
apparatus. Some knowledge of Novell-based PC networks would be
helpful.
