Of course, unless you were spinning at really high speed, gravity was
still a major component of the forces so the net force of the aluminum
tray bottom would be towards the center but also up. If the centrepetal
acceleration was about 10 m/s^2 then the angle would be about 45 degrees
above the horizontal. The tendency of many plants to orient towards their
source of light also contributes. You also have an air resistance
effect--adding a component of force opposite the direction of rotation.

This means the plants grow towards the light sources, vertically in the

experiment we arranged. But they grew at an angle.
