Laboratory Coordinator, Sr.



A full time Laboratory Coordinator, Sr. position will be open in the
Physics Department. The job description and requirements are as follows:

Job Description: This individual will report to the Laboratory Manager.
Duties will include setting up and assisting in performing physics
demonstrations, assisting faculty in selection appropriate
demonstrations, improving current demonstrations, and creating new
demonstrations.

More specifically:

1. Lecture demonstrations responsibilities include: setup demonstrations;
perform physics demonstrations; assist faculty in selecting
appropriate demonstrations; improve current demonstrations;
create new demonstrations; document available demonstrations;
order replacement and new equipment.

2. Audio visual responsibilities: provide audio-visual equipment
for the department; install and operate computer hardware;
install and use computer software; assist faculty in the selection
and use of computer software to enhance lectures; Assist in
the selection and operation of educational software within
the department.

3. Inventories, requisitions and restocks supplies for laboratories
and lecture theaters.

4. Performs electronic and mechanical repairs and calibrations on
equipment or contacts
appropriate party to perform repairs.

5. Acts as backup for lab set and advanced lab staff.

6. May need to work on ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, or work with
hazardous materials.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physics and three years of related
laboratory experience; or
- Teaching experience strongly desired.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master;s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment
AND two years related laboratory experience;
OR
- Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment
AND three years of related laboratory experience; or Seven years
related laboratory experience;
OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education
approved by the Human Resources Department.

and the following Knowledge and skills:

- Knowledge of computer educational software packages and
audio visual equipment.
- Skill in both oral and written communication with faculty and students.
