Re: Moseley's Plot and equation



The amount by which the Z value in Moseley's plot is reduced is called
the screening constant. In the higher shells many of the electrons
do not completely screen the neucleus because they spend considerable
time at some distance. For a reasonablely readable emperical discussion
of some of the factors affecting the magnitude of the screening constant
see the paper titled "X ray screening constants" in the
Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics vol 7 pp 451-459 (1974).
