CALL FOR ENTRIES!!!!

THE DEADLINE IS FAST APPROACHING. DON'T MISS THIS GREAT CHANCE TO APPEAR ON
NATIONAL TELEVISION AND SHOW OFF YOUR SCIENCE SMARTS!!!

NEWTON'S APPLE
America's Most Scientific Home Videos
Contest Rules

We're looking for America's Most Scientific Home Videos starring you, your
classmates, your family, and your friends and neighbors. Just create a video
presentation that answers a science question -like we do on NEWTON'S APPLE
-and send it to us. We'll take the best ones and include them in the fall
1996 season of NEWTON'S APPLE. If your tape is one of the best, you
could be a prize winner!

Contest Rules:

.. Your videotape must ask and answer a science question.

.. Your explanation and demonstration must be scientifically correct.
(Use your library, local museums, colleges and universities, the
Internet, and teachers in your school as information resources.)

.. Don't do anything that could injure someone or damage property.
Make sure your activities are supervised by an adult.

.. One or several people may appear on camera. However, everyone who
appears in the videotape MUST sign a release form. Anyone under
18 years old also must have a parent or guardian sign the release
form. Submit a completed copy of the form for EACH person who
appears in the videotape. The release form is part of the contest
registration packet that will be sent to you via phone or mail
request to the address at the bottom of this announcement. Make as
many photocopies of the blank form as you need.

.. You must fill out and sign the license agreement form (also part of
the registration packet) and send it in with your tape. We cannot
include your home video in the contest if we don't receive a
license agreement.

.. Everything in your video must be original. You CANNOT use any
non-original materials, including posters, photographs, drawings,
slides, films, or music that are covered by a copyright. Use of
any copyright materials in your videotape will disqualify you from
the contest.

.. Your tape can be any length and can be edited or unedited. However,
we recommend "short and sweet," and we will use one - to
three-minute tapes on the program. We reserve the right to edit
your videotape to fit into the show.

.. You can submit your tape on any of the following formats: VHS, S-VHS,
Hi-8, 8mm, 3/4" U-matic, or Betacam.

.. We will award the following prizes. Winning tapes may also appear in an
episode of NEWTON'S APPLE.

.. First Prize: A chance to appear on NEWTON'S APPLE. Up to three people
who worked on your videotape will be invited to a taping session of
NEWTON'S APPLE. NEWTON'S APPLE will pay for round-trip airfare and
two nights of hotel. If any of the winners are under 18 years old,
then at least one of the people who come to the taping session must
be an adult parent/guardian.

.. Second Prize: A NEWTON'S APPLE DISCOVERY BOX, including the complete set
of "What's the Secret?" CD-ROMS and the NEWTON'S APPLE Science Kits.

.. Five Third Prizes: A NEWTON'S APPLE "What the Secret?" CD-ROM.

.. Ten Fourth Prizes: A NEWTON'S APPLE T-shirt.

.. Employees of Twin Cities Public Television and their families are
not eligible.

.. Label your tape clearly with your name (or teacher's name, if
you're submitting as a class), home or school address, and a phone
number.

.. Tapes will not be returned. Send us your master tape and keep
a copy for yourself.

.. Include a list of who worked on your tape (camera, sound,
scriptwriter, talent, and so on). See the entry form.

.. We must RECEIVE your tape by May 1, 1996.

.. Send your tape along with the entry form and release forms to:
